This Practice Direction is to set out the management and procedure of mediation for cases in the High Court and Subordinate Courts.

It applies to the management and procedure of mediation in civil proceedings throughout the High Court and Subordinate Courts across Malaysia.

The State Court Director must plan carefully to ensure the established hearing schedule for mediation and trial cases. The arrangement of schedules, setting of dates, and appointment of Mediation Officers need to be meticulously planned to prevent the same officer from acting as a Mediation Officer and subsequently presiding over the case if mediation is unsuccessful.
